Samgeoli Korean Restaurant is about 5 minutes drive from our house.
We got take out from them a few times already.
We usually get their beef rib soup and dumpling soup.
Both are hearty Korean soup dishes that tastes like a Korean grandma made it.
Last weekend we dined in at the restaurant for the first time.
The servers at the restaurant were very nice and friendly.
The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived.
More families showed up later in the night.
They don’t have a lot of banchan.
Most of the banchan are the typical items that go with soup dishes.
We decided to try a soup we haven’t tried before.
Instead of the regular Galbi Tang, we tried the Wooguhji Galbi Tang,
which is beef bone soup with napa cabbage.
The soup base also is completely different.
The soup tastes like the fermented bean stew base, but not as salty.
It’s like a Korean version miso soup, and it was delicious.
I also love all the green leafy cabbage in the soup.
There were lots of meat as well.
This was the main event of the night – Bossam.
The sliced boiled pork belly was so tender and delicious.
I couldn’t eat the raw oysters, but Dr. P thoroughly enjoyed it with his pork.
You wrap the pork belly with brined kimchi with some radish kimchi,
and it becomes one delicious Korean style pork belly taco.
We love the bossam at this restaurant!
We really enjoyed the food at this restaurant.
Also it’s a big plus it’s so close to our home.
If you like home cooked style Korean food, definitely give Samgeoli a try.
We shall be here again very soon.
On our second visit, we had the following food.
